The Community Engagement for Equitable Systems Change collaborative aims to
bridge the divide between systems and the communities they serve.
change how systems operate, and
equip systems to advance racial equity.
We believe that communities most impacted need to have a seat at decision-making tables. At the same time, systems need to be receptive to community voices and need to build the capacity to operationalize change in partnership with those affected.
Vision
We envision a world where
- Systems demonstrate equitable results for communities of color and historically marginalized communities.
- Engaging those most impacted by decisions is a routine part of how systems operate.
- Systems are nimble and responsive, partnering with community to transform how the systems function.
What we hope to offer
- A long-term transformational approach
- A perspective of interconnectedness and interdependence; that inequities are harming both communities and systems
- Perspectives [where does this link] that help systems see how the goal of equitable systems change can be attainable
- An ecosystem where both community and system roles are valued and equipped in the work to advance racial equity
- Sustained relationships and trust between communities and systems demonstrated by follow-through and accountability
- An understanding of the patterns and roadblocks that are hindering efforts to create equitable systems
- A set of learning spaces, approaches and tools that increase capacity to facilitate community-driven systems change
